Orlando Motorsports Services will expand into a five-car McLaren Trophy America operation for next weekend’s round at the Miami Formula 1 Grand Prix, with American driver Matt Bell making his series debut.

Bell, who was part of P1 Groupe’s Pirelli GT4 America program in recent years with the McLaren Artura GT4, will share driving duties of the No. 65 Hooper Street Racing by OMS McLaren Artura Trophy EVO with Robby Stockard in the Pro class.

Stockard and his father, Bob, were originally announced for separate full season entries until Bob sustained injuries in a pre-season testing accident, which ruled the family out of racing last month’s season opener at Sonoma Raceway.

“Last season, I competed in the McLaren Trophy America series in the Am class alongside my dad, an experience that challenged me and accelerated my growth as a driver,” said Robby.

“This year, I’m excited to step up to the Pro class with my coach Matt Bell and take a major step forward for both Hooper Street Racing and Orlando Motorsport Services in McLaren Trophy America.”

Bell, a former Grand-Am veteran, added: “I was disappointed going into the season that I wouldn’t be able to return to the McLaren brand, and thanks to Bob and Robby Stockard and Orlando Motorsports Services, I’m going to be wheeling my favorite race car again.

“Robby has come up to pace very quickly in the short time he’s been doing this at the professional level, and with the backing of not just the largest team in the Trophy series, but I feel the best equipped in OMS, I think we’ll be contending out of the gate.”

Additionally, a fifth OMS McLaren will be on the grid for Miami, in the Am class, as one-off effort for a yet-to-be-announced driver.

Fabio Grecco, who made his series debut at Sonoma, meanwhile, will carry a new ‘energy’ livery on his No. 15 entry for the event.

A full entry list for the May 1-3 event at the Miami International Autodrome is expected to be revealed shortly.
