James Li led the way in the first McLaren Trophy America practice session of the weekend at the Miami International Autodrome, supporting the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix.
Li, in the No. 74 RWE McLaren Artura Trophy EVO, recorded a best lap of 1:57.818 in the 30-minute session outpacing veteran Joe Osborne in the No. 52 Aero-B McLaren by 0.608 seconds.
Osborne’s entry was quickest in the Pro-Am class.
Jon Miller, subbing for Paul Holton in the No. 8 Forte Racing McLaren, was third quickest overall and second in Pro-Am, followed by fellow Pro entry Matt Bell in the Hooper Street Racing with OMS entry.
Tommy Pintos completed the overall top-five, ahead of Am class pace-setters Deniz Teoman and Jeff Cook in the No. 5 GMG Racing McLaren.
All but the No. 12 ANSA Motorsports McLaren of CR Sincock turned laps in what marks a record 24-car field for the SRO America-run single-make series.
A second practice session is on tap for Friday at 6:15 p.m. EST.
