Patrick Liddy and Paul Holton provided a clean Forte Racing sweep of the overall poles in Thursday morning’s McLaren Trophy America qualifying sessions ahead of this week’s originally scheduled Rounds 9 and 10 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Liddy set the fastest benchmark midway through Qualifying 1, posting a best lap of 1:25.619 to place the No. 24 Forte Racing McLaren Artura Trophy EVO at the head of the field, overall and among the Pro combatants, for Race No. 1 later this afternoon.
James Li finished just shy of capturing the top spot on the grid and will start 2nd in his No. 21 RWE Motorsport McLaren, while Michael Suco completes the top three, and starts on pole in the Am category aboard No. 77 LLH Motorsports entry.
Additionally, Edmond Barseghian in the No. 11 RWE machine converted his 1:27.473 posted early in the session to lead the Pro-Am class to green in Race No. 1.
A late red flag stoppage in Qualifying No. 2 involving Fabio Greco in the No. 15 OMS McLaren at Sector 3 brought a premature end to the session.
Holton converted his fastest time of 1:25.361 into an overall and Pro pole for Friday’s season finale race in the No. 8 Forte McLaren.
Stablemate Cooper Broll claimed 2nd in the session in the No. 100 McLaren, best among Am competitors, while Jesse Lazare will start 3rd in the No. 43 Motorsports In Action McLaren, 1st in the Pro-Am division.
Race 1 gets underway at 5:15 p.m. EST, with Race 2 scheduled on Friday at 1:40 p.m. EST. Both races will be streamed live on McLaren Automotive and SRO’s GT World YouTube channels.
