Barber Motorsports Park will return to the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS schedule and Sebring will replace NOLA Motorsports Park in two changes to next year’s calendar.
The series is set for its first visit to Barber since the 2016 Pirelli World Challenge season, with the Alabama circuit confirmed to host a pair of 90-minute races on Sept. 6-8.
Barber fills the ‘TBA’ slot that appeared on the first version of the 2024 calendar that was announced in July.
“Barber Motorsports Park is excited to welcome SRO Motorsports [Group] to Alabama,” said George Dennis, president of Barber circuit promoter Zoom Motorsports.
“This exciting, sports-car-focused event is a great addition to our 2024 race schedule and will entertain fans from all over the southeast.”
SRO America president and CEO Greg Gill added: “We’re thrilled to announce the updates our team has diligently worked to secure for the 2024 season.
“We always aim to bring our competitors back to the locations they truly enjoy racing, and this schedule reflects the effort to make that desire a reality.”
The other significant change in the latest schedule update is the dropping of the planned late-April NOLA meeting in favor of a trip to Sebring in Florida on May 3-5.
Both tracks are on this year’s calendar and NOLA was slated to return next season. It’s understood that scheduling reasons were behind the decision not to return to the Louisiana venue.
A SRO America statement said that the series “looks forward to returning to NOLA Motorsports Park in subsequent seasons.”
The rest of the calendar is unchanged, with Sonoma hosting the season opener in early April and Circuit of The Americas slotting into mid-May.
Events at Road America, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Virginia International Raceway, which was moved to avoid a date clash with the 24 Hours of Le Mans, are also planned.
