Gabby Chaves will join Racers Edge Motorsports for next weekend’s Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS, teaming up with full season drivers Zach Veach and Luca Mars in the team’s Acura NSX GT3 Evo22.

Chaves brings an extensive resume to the team, with more than ten years of experience in sports car racing in both GT3 and prototype machinery.

He most recently competed in last weekend’s Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and has four Indianapolis 500 starts under his belt, in as many years in IndyCar, three of those with Honda.

“I’m stoked to be joining Racers Edge Motorsports for the Indy 8 Hour,” said Chaves. “It’s a race I have been wanting to run for a few years now, and when I got the call about racing with the team, I didn’t hesitate.

“I’m excited to work and drive with my longtime friend and competitor Zach and will give my best effort to help deliver a strong result for the team and all the partners involved in this race.”

Mars and Veach will look to carry the momentum from a streak of podiums into the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS season finale, which doubles as the last leg of this year’s Intercontinental GT Challenge.

The duo has finished on the Pro class podium in the last five of six races.

“I’ve never driven this racetrack at night,” said Veach. “Every race I’ve done there, from the ladder series to IndyCar itself, was always in the day. That’s going to be a new one for me, and you can’t really get too many new experiences at a place as historic as Indy.

“To be able to check that off my bucket list is pretty special.”

Mars added: “I’ve done couple of races at Indy, but nothing as long as this one. I’m excited to get out there with Zach and Gabby. We’ve really pushed hard here at the end of the season, and racing the Acura here is going to be a lot of fun.”
