Eversley Wins Race 2, Sweeps Road America Weekend

RealTime Racing has scored a sweep of the weekend at Road America, with Ryan Eversley taking another dominant win in Sunday’s Pirelli World Challenge round.

Eversley led the 50-minute race flag-to-flag, piloting his No. 43 Acura TLX-GT to a 2.623-second victory over the No. 88 Bentley Team Absolute Bentley Continental GT3 of Adderly Fong.

Fong took over second with less than eight minutes remaining, when the No. 05 Always Evolving Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 of Bryan Heitkotter slowed with issues.

It promoted Michael Cooper to a podium finish in his No. 8 Cadillac ATS-V.R, having pressured Fong in the closing stages but unable to get around the Bentley.

The No. 42 Acura of Peter Cunningham was fourth, with Patrick Long completing the top-five in his No. 58 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Frankie Montecalvo broke through to claim his long-awaited first GTA class win of the season, in a flawless run for his No. 66 DIME Racing Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3.

Montecalvo finished 7th overall, benefiting by attrition from a number of GT class competitors.

Both of the Nissans were in and out of the pits with issues under the hood, while Johnny O’Connell again battled a throttle sensor issue, en route to a 25th place overall finish in his No. 3 Cadillac.

GTA championship leader Martin Fuentes had engine-related issues again, failing to finish for the second consecutive race but crucially gaining points after limping his Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 past the half-distance mark.

Saturday’s GTA class-winning No. 16 Wright Porsche of Michael Schein finished second, with Andy Wilzoch claiming back-to-back podium finishes in his No. 45 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche.

In GT Cup, Alec Udell claimed top class honors for the third consecutive race, extending his points lead over Sloan Urry, who finished second in class.

Udell edged out Urry by 8.562 seconds for the win in his No. 17 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.

The race, which started under yellow due to changing track conditions, saw a nearly 20-minute full-course caution for a heavy crash by No. 82 McCann Racing Dodge Viper GT3-R of Michael McCann, who slammed hard into the Turn 1 wall.

McCann was uninjured in the accident but it required a lengthy cleanup.
