The No. 33 Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 arrived at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Thursday afternoon after it was significantly delayed as a result of port worker strikes.
The car, still unwrapped and in bare carbon, was unloaded and pushed into WRT’s garage at 12:45 p.m. EDT, making it the last of this weekend’s 23 entries for the Indianapolis 8 Hour to arrive at The Brickyard.
Augusto Farfus, Max Hesse and Dan Harper are due to share the No. 33 car for this weekend’s Intercontinental GT Challenge finale.
While its sister No. 31 car, entered for Sheldon van der Linde, Dries Vanthoor and Charles Weerts, was present to take part in both of Wednesday’s paid test sessions, the other half of the WRT garage sat empty throughout.
The No. 33 machine, along with the No. 130 GruppeM Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, were delayed in transit due to a significant port workers’ strike across the Gulf and East coasts that started on Tuesday.
However, while the No. 130 car was delivered to the circuit around lunchtime on Wednesday, further delays for WRT meant its second car missed all of the first day of running.
WRT will now have less than six hours to prepare the car for the start of the opening IGTC Free Practice session, which kicks off at 6:45 p.m.
