No Further Action on SprintX Race 1 Results

Pirelli World Challenge officials have reversed plans of imposing changes to the results of Saturday’s SprintX season-opener at Virginia International Raceway, after another review.

A series spokesperson told Sportscar365 that an audit of the Race 1 results, conducted following Race 2 on Sunday afternoon, showed that the originally suspected timing error in pit lane deltas was incorrect.

It comes as a reversal from previously communicated plans to impose changes on the results, due to a difference in location of the cones at pit-out and the timing beacon. 

No time-based adjustments will therefore be made to the results, which saw seven teams, including the top-three placed cars at the time, handed drive-through penalties for not meeting the minimum 60 or 90-second minimum pit lane delta per GT Pro-Pro and Pro-Am class rules, respectively.

It confirms that the No. 31 TR3 Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 of Daniel Mancinelli and Andrea Montermini as winners on Saturday.

Sunday’s Race 2 saw an adjustment in the rules, with a two-second ‘joker’ being added to the minimum pit lane delta time, as well as clarifications on pit stop rules.

CRP Racing’s Ryan Dalziel and Daniel Morad scored top honors in the second race, the first for the Mercedes-AMG GT3 in PWC competition.
