Racers Edge Motorsports will expand into a two-car GT World Challenge America powered by AWS operation with the addition of a second Acura NSX GT3 Evo for Trent Hindman and Shelby Blackstock.

The two Silver-rated drivers will team up to compete in the new-for-2020 Silver Cup class, with support from both Acura Motorsports and Honda Performance Development.

The No. 93 car will carry Acura Accelerated Service branding and will also be used in the inaugural HPD Racing GT3 Driver Academy program.

“I’m grateful for any opportunity to hop back into the NSX GT3 Evo especially for a full-time effort in GT World Challenge America competition,” Hindman said.

“Racers Edge has success with the NSX GT3, and I’m excited to continue the momentum by bringing my knowledge and experience with the car to this team.”

Like Hindman, who won the 2019 IMSA GT Daytona class title in a Meyer Shank Racing-run Acura, Blackstock also has previous and existing ties to HPD, as he’s currently in his second season in IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge competition in a Honda Civic Type-R TCR.

“I am eager and appreciative for the opportunity in GT World Challenge America this season,” Blackstock said. “With such a great lineup, we are set for success. I am really looking forward to turning my first laps in the Acura NSX GT3 Evo at COTA in two weeks.”

The Florida-based operation won the GT3 Pro-Am drivers’ championship last year with Kyle Marcelli and Martin Barkey, who will both return for the 2020 season in the No. 80 Acura.

A total of 14 GT3-spec cars are expected to take part in next weekend’s season-opener at Circuit of The Americas.
