VSR Names Remaining Drivers; Adds Third Lambo Entry

Vincenzo Sospiri Racing has announced its full driver lineups for the upcoming Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS season, as well as the addition of a third Lamborghini to be run in conjunction with ANR.

The Italian squad revealed in January it would be making its return to the series for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic with a pair of Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2s, with Ye Bian and Edoardo Liberati confirmed as drivers for one of the cars.

Now the team has announced that factory Lamborghini racer Marco Mapelli will pilot the second car together with Chinese racer Mike Zhou.

In addition, a third car will be entered by VSR in collaboration with newly-established Japanese team ANR, to be shared by Akira Mizutani and Yuki Nemoto.

Mizutani has experience in categories such as SUPER GT and Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia, while Nemoto has driven with VSR in Fanatec GT Europe for the past two seasons, and is also the third driver for apr’s Lexus LC500h in SUPER GT.

Team owner Vincenzo Sospiri said: “I’m really happy to welcome Mike Zhou and Akira Mizutani to the VSR family and to confirm two more strong driver line-ups for our return to the GT World Challenge Asia.

“I’m confident all three cars will be competitive and the whole team is really looking forward to getting the season underway at Sepang!”

ANR is co-owned by influencer ‘Ami’, who will also serves as the team’s general director, and Nijiko Wakabayashi, who runs Japanese fashion brand Sheller.
