G-Drive Racing will make its return to the Blancpain Sprint Series this weekend at Portimao, but with a new car and race operations crew.
The Russian-backed effort, which missed the most recent round at the Slovakia Ring, has switched from an Audi R8 LMS ultra, previously operated by Belgian Audi Club Team WRT, to a Reiter Engineering-run Lamborghini Gallardo FL2.
Roman Rusinov will be joined by Tomas Enge behind the wheel of the No. 3 entry, which carries an unmistakable orange livery for the Portuguese round.
WRT, meanwhile, still has four Audis entered, with Rusinov’s former co-driver, Stephane Ortelli, being joined by Fabian Hamprecht in the No. 9 entry.
A total of 22 cars are expected to take part this weekend, including the return of Maxi Buhk to HTP Motorsport, after the DMSB dismissed his case that saw the young German suspended from last month’s round at Slovakia Ring.
Other changes include the absence of the Villorba Corse Ferrari 458 Italia GT3, which suffered an accident in Slovakia, while a pair of Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 have been entered for Portuguese squad Sports & You.
Track action gets underway on Friday.
