Lionspeed GP has confirmed that Bastian Buus and Ricardo Feller will pilot its Pro class Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo in this weekend’s GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup opener at Brands Hatch, removing one of the last question marks on the 34-strong entry.
The No. 80 Porsche did not previously have any drivers named against it when an initial entry list was published last week, but the squad has now confirmed that Buus and Feller will contest the full GTWC Europe season, having already been announced as tackling the Endurance Cup alongside Porsche factory driver Thomas Preining.
The trio failed to finish the Paul Ricard Endurance Cup opener earlier this month due to a power steering issue, having previously looked strong in the Prologue, in what is Lionspeed’s first bid for outright series honors.
The Brands Hatch entry is smaller than the 45 Sprint Cup crews revealed prior to the start of the season because of the reduced number of cars permitted to race on the venue’s Grand Prix circuit compared to other tracks on the calendar.
As a result, none of the 11-strong Bronze Cup competitors will take part. All of the other squads on the entry list published in February have been confirmed as tackling the Brands event.
This includes the KPX Motorsport squad, which has now swapped to the Gold Cup ranks after David Pittard and Jop Rappange were revealed as driving its No. 77 BMW M4 GT3 EVO.
Aside from the Lionspeed entry, the only other car without a full lineup revealed was the No. 914 Razoon – more than racing Porsche, which only has Simon Birch listed.
The Brands Hatch event is due to feature two races each lasting one hour to kickstart the Sprint Cup campaign.
