Ferrari Formula 1 driver and avid sim racer Charles Leclerc has been confirmed as a late addition to the grid for today’s SRO E-Sport GT Series season-opener.

The Monegasque driver will pilot a Ferrari 488 GT3 in the Pro competition for real-world drivers which is being held on Silverstone using Assetto Corsa Competizione.

Leclerc, who joined Ferrari last year after a breakout debut season with the Alfa Romeo-Sauber F1 team, is part of a strong Pro lineup for the Italian marque that also includes GT works drivers Nicklas Nielsen, Miguel Molina and Daniel Serra.

2009 F1 world champion Jenson Button, Mercedes-AMG factory ace Raffaele Marciello and Formula 2 aces Louis Deletraz and Luca Ghiotto are also taking part.

Leclerc’s addition to the grid brings the total number of drivers in the Pro event up to 50, while most of the other participants were announced last Wednesday.

Sunday’s opening race of the Pro series, which kicks off a six-round championship, is set to get underway at 1:45 p.m. CET (7:45 a.m. EST).

There will also be ‘Silver’ and ‘Am’ races for professional sim racers and public qualifiers, respectively.

Live coverage can be found on the GT World YouTube and Dailymotion channels as well as the SRO Motorsports Twitch and Facebook pages.
