GetSpeed Performance will return to the Pro class of Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup with a single Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.

Factory drivers Maro Engel and Luca Stolz will be joined by former Audi and Lamborghini customer team driver Steijn Schothorst for the five-round campaign.

GetSpeed’s announcement of its Pro entry comes a day after Haypt Racing Team, which fielded the Engel- Stolz combination during the last two Endurance Cup seasons, outlined an increased three-car program but without a car in the top category.

2018 Endurance Cup champions Engel and Stolz are set for their fifth season in the long-distance GTWC Europe series while Schothorst is making his return after previously contesting a full season with Attempto Racing in 2019.

The Dutchman is set for his first season behind the wheel of a Mercedes-AMG.

“Being able to drive in a completely new environment is very exciting for me,” he said.

“I’m ready for this new challenge. GetSpeed is a very experienced and very professional team. I also have two excellent colleagues. The overall package is strong.

“We’ll have to get to know each other a little more and coordinate with each other, but we have enough time for that.

“For all these reasons, I am sure that we will have a very, very good season.”

GetSpeed’s program is only confirmed for the GTWC Europe Endurance Cup races.

The team entered the series in 2020 with a Pro Mercedes-AMG involving Alessio Lorandi, Fabian Schiller and Maximilian Buhk before switching to the Pro-Am division for 2021.

Its Pro-level commitments last year came in the DTM and the Nürburgring 24, but the team is not returning to the former championship this season.

“I could hardly have wished for a better driver combination for this strong endurance series,” said team principal Adam Osieka.

“With this lineup we can pursue ambitious goals. Luca and Maro belong to the crème de la crème of GT3 drivers and Steijn is a promising young driver. I firmly believe in an exciting and successful season in the GTWC.”

GetSpeed has already announced a Mercedes-AMG in the Silver Cup class for Sebastien Baud, Valdemar Eriksen and Jeff Kingsley.
