KCMG Porsche Quickest on Wednesday Morning at Spa

Porsche squad KCMG went quickest in the third session of the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa official test as Laurens Vanthoor set the fastest lap on Wednesday morning.

Vanthoor’s time of 2:17.725 was the benchmark in the three-hour morning run, which represented the penultimate session of a two-day test for the race on July 30-31.

It brought a different car to the top of the leaderboard after Team WRT’s No. 32 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II swept the Tuesday sessions courtesy of Charles Weerts, who remains the fastest outright driver on a 2:17.461, and Dries Vanthoor.

The KCMG Porsche 911 GT3 R set the pace with around one hour left in session three, with two-time Spa winner Vanthoor moving ahead of Ben Barker in the No. 91 Allied-Racing Porsche.

Allied remained in second until the end of the play, with Barker sitting 0.135 seconds behind Vanthoor, who also set the third-best time during the Tuesday afternoon spell.

The JOTA McLaren 720S GT3 finished third on a 2:17.929 that was set early on, while the No. 12 Tresor by Car Collection Audi ended up fourth.

The top five was completed by Sainteloc Junior Team’s No. 26 Audi, as the No. 32 WRT Audi ranked eighth behind Porsches from Herberth Motorsport and Dinamic Motorsport.

The session was interrupted by a 25-minute red flag that was introduced to facilitate a track inspection.

Furthermore, Barwell Motorsport’s No. 78 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo did not take part.

The 57 laps from Leipert Motorsport’s Lamborghini was the most completed by any car.

A further five hours of testing after lunch will round out this year’s 24 Hours of Spa test.
