Ordoñez: New Nissan GT3 “Completely Different”

Lucas Ordoñez says the new-for-2018 version of the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 is worlds apart from the previous generation of the car.

He will contest the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup co-driving with Alex Buncombe and Matt Parry as GT Sport Motul Team RJN fields a single 2018-spec car along with a previous-gen car in the Silver Cup.

All three drivers got behind the wheel of the new car in the Blancpain GT pre-season test at Circuit Paul Ricard last week.

“Once you open the door, the car is completely different,” Ordoñez said. “Brand new steering wheel, the cockpit, the seat position, the dashboard, it’s great to see.

“Now, we made a car that’s much more comfortable for the drivers, easier to reach the buttons and the switches we use during the race. The driver’s view position has also much improved.

“The weight distribution is improved a lot, so that will help us have a lot more mechanical grip through the corners and better change of direction.

“The front end has also been improved, with more aerodynamics and the radiator was moved to help with cooling and providing more power.”

In addition to the single car run by RJN in the Blancpain GT Series, KCMG is set to campaign a pair of new-gen Nissans in the Blancpain GT Series Asia with currently unannounced driver lineups.
