R-Motorsport has revealed that Aston Martin Racing factory drivers Maxime Martin and Nicki Thiim will join the team for its maiden Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup entry.

They join the previously-announced duo of Alex Brundle and Jake Dennis as well as two yet-to-be-announced drivers in the two-car Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 lineup.

The R-Motorsport entry will be run with support from Arden International and Jota Sport.

“We’re very excited and proud to add Maxime and Nicki to our line-up for next year,” said
team principal, Dr. Florian Kamelger.

“Having two factory Aston Martin drivers in our squad further expands our excellent relationship with the brand and of course both drivers are at the absolute top of their game when it comes to GT racing.

“We think this acts as another statement of intent on our ambitions for 2018.

“We will now fill out the two remaining seats with competitive drivers that are looking for a good opportunity to taste success in 2018.”

Martin is a new addition to the AMR factory driver roster, making the switch from BMW ahead of the 2018 season, while Thiim is a long-established Aston Martin driver who won the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship GTE-Pro title with the manufacturer.

Martin won the Total 24 Hours of Spa with BMW in 2016 and will be able to fight for another victory in the Ardennes in July.

While both drivers are set to join the factory squad in the WEC ‘Super Season’, the Dane will have an even busier season of GT3 racing after being announced at TF Sport in the British GT Championship earlier today.
