Stephen Simpson led the way in a red flag-interrupted Practice 3 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, in the final session prior to qualifying for Sunday’s Mobil 1 Sportscar Grand Prix.

The JDC-Miller Motorsports driver reeled off a 1:09.142 lap in the No. 85 Oreca 07 Gibson, edging out the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R of Jordan Taylor by 0.053 seconds.

The No. 22 Tequila Patron ESM Nissan Onroak DPi of Pipo Derani was third quickest overall and in the Prototype class.

Dirk Werner (GTLM), Tristan Vautier (GTD) and Pato O’Ward (PC) led the way in their respective classes.

The 60-minute session was interrupted twice, the first for a heavy accident from the No. 15 3GT Racing Lexus RC F GT3 of Jack Hawksworth, who ran wide in Turn 3 and launched his GT Daytona class contender into the barriers.

A second red came out with 14 minutes to go for debris.

Qualifying is set to begin at 12:05 p.m. ET.
