United Autosports has announced that Hugo de Sadeleer is the next driver to be signed for its 2018 entries into the Rolex 24 at Daytona and European Le Mans Series.

He returns to the team after forming part of its ELMS and 24 Hours of Le Mans lineup this season. De Sadeleer will also take part at Le Mans, subject to the team’s entry being approved.

The 20-year-old, who was crowned ELMS Rookie of the Year, will share one of the team’s Ligier JS P217 Gibsons at Daytona with Will Owen, Paul di Resta and a to-be-announced fourth driver.

He will partner with Owen for the ELMS season and potentially Le Mans as the pairing aims to do one better than its runner-up position in the ELMS LMP2 standings this year.

“I’m really excited to be returning to United Autosports for 2018,” de Sadeleer said. “We had an amazing year in 2017, I’ve learnt so much and I’m looking forward to continuing my progression.

“We are preparing for Daytona. I’ve never raced there and it will be a completely new style of racing but we are going to have a great team there and it will be a good opportunity for me to prove myself amongst some of the best drivers in the world.

“For ELMS, I now know all the tracks so we are going for the win.”
