Formal to Team Up With Norman for WTRAndretti Title Defense

Reigning Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Pro class champion Danny Formal will join forces with runner-up Ryan Norman as part of the Costa Rican’s fourth season in the single-make series with Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti.

Announced on Tuesday, Formal, who teamed with Kyle Marcelli for a record-setting ten wins, nine poles and 12 podium finishes, will dovetail his full-season IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship commitments with a return to Super Trofeo North America.

WTRAndretti locked out the Pro class last year, with Norman having scored the other two wins as a solo driver.

“We have two Pro championships together with Kyle and it is super exciting to get going in the 2024 Lamborghini Super Trofeo season now with Ryan Norman – he was a huge star last year,” said Formal.

“He’s the only driver that took two wins away from Kyle and me, so I’m super excited to share the car with him hopefully get another championship for the team and get that elusive win that’s haunted me in the 2024 Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals.”

Norman, meanwhile, will be embarking on his third year with WTRAndretti.

“The team has become like a family to me, and we have grown together so much over the course of last season,” he said.

“I think the driver combo of Danny Formal and I will be very strong as well.

“We really pushed each other throughout the 2023 season, and it definitely made me a better driver. I’m confident we have all the tools needed to make a run at the championship and I can’t wait to get started at Sebring.”

The team, which will continue fielding a total of four Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 cars in the series, meanwhile, also confirmed the return of the Pro-Am pairing of Nate Stacy and Nick Persing, as well as Graham Doyle, who steps up to the Am class after finishing runner-up in the LB Cup category last year.

“I can’t wait to get back after it now that I have my first season behind me, and I know what to work on and improve instead of jumping in and learning everything all at once,” Stacy said.

Doyle added: “In my first season I was able to grow and develop as a driver earning my first win and fighting for a championship.

“Going into my second season as a part of the Am class, I hope to continue to grow as a driver and contend for wins in my second season.”

The team will announce the drivers for its fourth entry in the coming weeks ahead of the season-opening rounds at Sebring International Raceway.
