A total of 18 cars are set to do battle in this weekend’s third round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS season at Queensland Raceway.
It marks the largest field the series has attracted so far, representing an increase of one over the previous meeting at The Bend and the season opener at Phillip Island.
Ten cars are entered for the top Pro/Am class and six in Am, both the same as The Bend, while the Trophy class is up to two cars for the first time this year.
The return of Volante Rosso with a newly-acquired Aston Martin Vantage GT3, as announced last week, means that the number of manufacturers in Pro/Am is now up to four, with the British marque joining Mercedes-AMG, Ferrari and Audi.
As revealed on Saturday, Alex Gardner and Ben Porter have been entrusted with driving duties aboard the No. 14 car, which was shaken down at Sydney Motorsport Park last week by teenager Gardner.
Grove Racing is also back in action with the No. 4 Mercedes-AMG GT3 to be shared by father-and-son duo Brenton and Stephen Grove, having been absent from The Bend.
However, the No. 88 Melbourne Performance Centre Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II driven at The Bend by Steve Brooks and Nick McBride is absent, as is the Wall Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 that was a one-off entry for the second round of the series.
Meanwhile, in Am, the arrival of the Volante Rosso Mercedes-AMG of Chris Batzios and Ross Poulakis is balanced out by the absence of the No. 44 Tigani Motorsport Audi.
Scott Taylor and Paul Morris’s No. 222 Porsche 911 GT3 R joins the No. 38 KMB Motorsport Aston Martin as the second car in the Trophy class for older machinery.
Arise Racing GT Ferrari duo Chaz Mostert and Liam Talbot head to Queensland with a seven-point margin at the head of the Pro-Am drivers’ standings ahead of MPC Audi pairing Will Brown and Brad Schumacher.
