Multiple cars, including the fourth-place finishing LMP2 car and two of the three podium finishers in GT, have received post-race penalties from Saturday’s 4 Hours of Dubai.
Confirmed in the final classification of the third round of the Asian Le Mans Series issued late on Saturday, the No. 20 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca 07 Gibson of John Falb, Matthias Kaiser and Sami Meguetounif, was served a 25-second post-race time penalty due to a Virtual Safety Car infraction.
While dropping to a 13th place result, Meguetounif additionally has had 1 behavioral point deducted due to having exceeded the 80 km/h speed by nearly 70 km/h for a ten-second period.
In GT, the No. 10 Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 R of Loek Hartog, Antares Au and Klaus Bachler were elevated to second in class due to pass-around and drive-time violations for the No. 66 JMR Johor Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, which accrued separate two-lap and 30-second post-race time penalties, respectively, dropping the car to 14th in class.
It promoted the No. 21 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 of Simon Mann, Darren Leung and Alessio Rovera to third after initially finishing fifth on the road.
This is because the No. 28 Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 EVO also had a maximum drive-time violation.
In total, 13 post-race penalties were handed out, either for stint time, improper pass-around or VSC violations.
Additionally, series officials announced a revised Balance of Performance for the GT class for Sunday’s race, which will see a 15 kg weight addition to the Ferrari, and 10 kg weight breaks for both the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo and BMW.
Race 2 of the 4H Dubai double-header begins Sunday at 2:10 p.m local time (5:10 a.m ET).
