Audi Sport Asia has announced that Jaxon Evans will spearhead Phantom Global Racing’s second lineup for this year’s GT World Challenge Asia season.

Kiwi racer Evans, a regular of the Australian Supercars grid in recent years as well as GTWC Australia, will share the No. 15 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II together with Bronze-rated Andres Pato (real name Andrew Haryanto) in the Pro-Am class.

It follows the news earlier this week that the sister No. 16 Silver Cup-entered car will be driven by Audi Sport Asia-contracted drivers Cheng Congfu and Yu Kuai.

While Evans is no stranger to GTWC Asia or Phantom Global, having taken part in two rounds for the Chinese team in 2024 at the wheel of a Porsche 911 GT3 R, the 29-year-old is set for his first full campaign in the series.

It comes on top of his GTWC Australia commitments for Arise Racing GT, amid a scaling back of his Supercars duties to just the endurance races.

“Jaxon Evans, Andres Pato and the Audi R8 LMS GT3 is a very exciting combination,” said Audi Sport customer racing Asia boss Alexander Blackie. “Both drivers are race winners with the R8 LMS and should prove to be a potent force this year.

“Together with the previously-announced GT World Challenge Asia line-up of Cheng Congfu and Yu Kuai we have a nicely balanced squad ready to challenge for the overall title in the region’s leading GT3 series.”

Pato, meanwhile, last contested a full GTWC Asia season in 2024 under the pseudonym ‘Andre Canard’, and also made a single appearance last year as ‘Andrea Anatra’.

The new GTWC Asia season begins next weekend at Sepang in Malaysia.
