Three-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Benoit Treluyer is aiming to take his newly-established Trajectus Motorsport team into the LMP2 class in 2028.
Treluyer, who also won the 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship title during his seven years driving Audi factory LMP1 machinery, has earmarked the start of a new rules cycle and the introduction of a new generation of LMP2 car for the graduation of the team he established in 2024.
A three-year plan has been laid out for Trajectus to move into LMP2, starting with its expansion into the international prototype ranks this year in Michelin Le Mans Cup on the European Le Mans Series undercard.
Next year, Treluyer intends to step up into the LMP3 class of the ELMS with its Ligier JS P325 Toyota.
“I’m looking at LMP2 in the ELMS because my background is in prototypes,” Treluyer told Sportscar365.
“My aim is to take the team to the same level at which I competed as a driver, which means eventually working with a manufacturer.
“The plan is P2 for the moment, but if a manufacturer came to me wanting to do something in GT3, then I would take that for sure.”
Treluyer established Trajectus in Gordes near Avignon in the south of France in 2024 to race in the Ligier JS Cup France as well as the Fun Cup on the same bill, and then moved up to the Ligier European Series the following season.
His son, Jules, was initially among the team’s roster of drivers before moving to Japan to compete in the Super Taikyu Series ST-Z class for GT4 machinery with Team Impul.
Treluyer explained that helping his son, as well as other young drivers, was part of his motivation for starting his team.
“Jules was racing in the French Ligier series and doing pretty well, but I thought I could help him and others do a bit better,” he explained.
Trajectus has also competed in rallying since its inaugural season, winning the FFSA French Rally Championship with Yoann Bonato in 2025 with a Citroen C3 Rally2 backed by the French marque’s parent company, Stellantis.
This year it has swapped to sister brand Lancia’s new Ypsilon Rally2 HF Integrale.
It also prepares machinery for historic racing, including a Tyrrell-Cosworth 012 Formula 1 and an Audi R8 LMS GT3.
Trajectus is building a new facility in Gordes to bring its operations together in time for its LMP2 graduation.
