Response Worker Injured at Belle Isle Discharged from Hospital

The response worker injured at last month’s TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Chevrolet Sports Car Classic in Detroit has been released from the hospital, IMSA confirmed Sunday.

An IMSA statement read: “IMSA has been informed that the response worker injured at Belle Isle has been discharged from the hospital and he has returned home.”

The unidentified male track worker had remained hospitalized with broken ribs, a collapsed lung, as well as injuries to his spleen and kidney as of last Sunday, but the release comes no more than a week later.

The hospitalized track worker and a second worker, who was evaluated and released on site at the Raceway on Belle Isle circuit, were involved in an accident involving four GT Daytona cars after the overall winning car had seen the checkered flag.
