While not expected to contest a full-season program, the new Pilbeam MP100 will run in select races this year, including the African 6 Hour, where the Mike Pilbeam-designed LMP2 car will make its debut. (En Français)
Greg Mills, owner of Ecurie Zoo, has confirmed the MP100 for the second running of the endurance race at Phakisa Raceway on Feb. 22.
“We’ve entered the car for the Six-hour race,” he told Endurance-Info. “A team of engineers are currently working full time on the [build of the] car.”
A decision on the remainder of the 2014 program will be made after the South African race.
“We will go step by step,” Mills said. “We’ll see how the car will go for six hours but we hope to take part in European races later this season. We’ll follow the South African proverb saying, ‘You eat an elephant one bite at a time.'”
It’s expected that the car will run on Hankook tires at Phakisa, with the car being driven by Mills and South African Duncan Vos.
Graham Vos will be at the wheel of a second Pilbeam in the race, a MP98.
