Thirty-three IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship entries are set to compete in the penultimate round of the season next weekend for the America’s Tire 250, the headline event of the Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

The two-hour and 40-minute race will feature a three-class format in Prototype, GT Le Mans and GT Daytona class entries.

It will mark the return of the top prototype class for the first time since Road America last month, which saw Tequila Patron ESM claim the first win with its Nissan Onroak DPi and drivers Pipo Derani and Johannes van Overbeek.

There are no major changes in the Prototype entry since Road America, with Olivier Pla set to continue with PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports in its Ligier JS P217 Gibson, having gotten out of a conflicting European Le Mans Series event that weekend to remain with the Bobby Oergel-led team.

While eight Prototypes are set to do battle, nine cars are again listed in GTLM, including the No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTE, which is now confirmed to contest the remainder of the season.

GTD, meanwhile, sees a 16-car entry, with Patrick Long continuing in the No. 28 Alegra Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R and WeatherTech Racing remaining with its Porsche as well, for the final two-hour and 40-minute race of the season.

The America’s Tire 250 is set for Sept. 24 with live coverage on FS1, beginning at 5 p.m. ET.
