Road Atlanta will honor the late Don Panoz by having a fan serve as the grand marshal for next month’s Motul Petit Le Mans.
The race, which closes out the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season, will be the first without former track owner and American Le Mans Series founder Panoz, who passed away earlier this month following a battle with cancer.
Panoz served as grand marshal for last year’s 20th anniversary event, which he had founded in 1998.
Owing to Panoz’s “For the Fans” legacy, Road Atlanta has launched a contest to select the grand marshal, with fans asked to submit entries, in 350 words or less, describing the impact Panoz or his contributions to Motul Petit Le Mans, Road Atlanta and sports car racing, had on themselves.
Entries, submitted to [email protected], will be accepted until Friday, with the winner selected on Oct. 3.
