23 GT3 Entries for COTA Season Opener

A total of 23 cars are set for next weekend’s Blancpain GT World Challenge America season-opener at Circuit of The Americas, marking a significant increase in GT3 machinery for the new-look championship.

SRO Motorsports America released the entry list on Friday, with six Pro entries, 11 Pro-Am and six Am cars set to do battle in the pair of 90-minute extended sprint races.

It marks a nearly two-fold increase over last year’s car count in the series.

Among the entries in the Pro class are defending series champions R. Ferri Motorsport with its Ferrari 488 GT3 for Toni Vilander and Miguel Molina, as well as two-car efforts from K-PAX Racing (Bentley) and Alegra Motorsports (Porsche) as well as a single Porsche 911 GT3 R from Wright Motorsports.

Wright will also be represented in Pro-Am with the previously announced duo of Anthony Imperato and Dennis Olsen, with the class seeing participation from five different GT3 manufacturers, including a pair of Acura NSX GT3s and a BMW M6 GT3.

Of note, Stephen Cameron Racing (BMW) and K2R Motorsports (Porsche) have committed entries, alongside TR3 Racing (Ferrari) which returns to series competition with Jeff Segal and Wei Lu.

Among the entries in GT3 Am are a Risi Competizione-entered Ferrari for Pierre Mulacek and Anthony Lazzaro, as well as the return of Squadra Corse Garage Italia with Martin Fuentes and Caeser Bacarella.

Track action gets underway on Friday March 1, ahead of a packed weekend that also includes the season-opening rounds for Pirelli GT4 America competitions and TC America.
