Christina Nielsen will return to the No. 57 Meyer Shank Racing-run Acura NSX GT3 Evo at Mid-Ohio next weekend for the first sprint round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
The Dane will share the Caterpillar-backed Heinricher Racing entry with full-season driver Katherine Legge for the Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio, Meyer Shank Racing’s home race.
Nielsen and Legge shared the car with Ana Beatriz at Daytona and Sebring, while Simona de Silvestro joined as a fourth driver at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January.
Legge will drive the Acura for the rest of the WeatherTech Championship but her co-driver for the remaining races is yet to be confirmed.
Nielsen has already been confirmed for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen and Motul Petit Le Mans, thus completing the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup season.
The two-time GT Daytona class champion will now add the Mid-Ohio race, which takes place on May 3-5, to her schedule.
“I’m excited to be back with Heinricher Racing and MSR for Mid-Ohio,” said Nielsen. “The team had a strong run there last year so I am sure we will be in good hands.
“It’s the first of the sprint rounds so the mindset will be a bit different compared to the endurance events, but I know everything will come together smoothly.”
Sportscar365 understands that Nielsen and Beatriz will share the second seat for the remainder of the season, although this has not been confirmed by the team.
