Webb Completes ByKolles Lineup for Spa, Le Mans

Oliver Webb will contest his fifth 24 Hours of Le Mans with ByKolles Racing after being confirmed as the final member of the LMP1 team’s driver lineup for the next two FIA World Endurance Championship races.

Webb will share the No. 4 ByKolles ENSO CLM P1/01 Gibson with Tom Dillmann and new signing Bruno Spengler in next month’s Total 6 Hours of Spa and Le Mans in September.

The British driver has been involved in the previous four editions of Le Mans with ByKolles, while his two appearances before 2016 came in the LMP2 category.

“It’s great to be back in an LMP1 car with ByKolles for the remainder of the 2020 WEC season post lockdown,” said Webb.

“Spa and Le Mans are my two best tracks on the schedule, so it’s going to be great to get back on them alongside great teammates in Tom Dillmann and Bruno Spengler, who I know are very fast and the perfect mix.”

ByKolles head of operations Boris Bermes added: “Oliver is an excellent driver with a lot of experience in LMP1. With Tom and Bruno, we have a strong line up for the upcoming race events in Spa and Le Mans.”

The Austrian-flagged operation plans to continue testing of its upgraded ENSO CLM prototype in the coming weeks, in preparation for its 10th Le Mans appearance.

ByKolles had originally been working to get Super GT driver Joao Paulo Oliveira in for Le Mans, but the Japan-based Brazilian explained in a Tweet on Monday that restrictions on re-entry for foreigners meant he could not participate in the race.
