Johnson Withdraws from Remainder of Season

JDC-Miller Motorsports’ IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge TCR effort has come to an early end with Michael Johnson having withdrawn from the remainder of the season.

In a statement released by the drivers’ management team, a “combination of factors” has gone into the decision to forgo the final three races of the year in their Audi RS 3 LMS TCR.

“First and foremost, we took into account the health and well-being of the drivers and the crew due to the prolonged nature of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Josh Reasoner, director of Michael Johnson Racing.

“Also, two of final three races will take place on tracks at which we have already competed during the 2020 series and the third race involves lengthy cross-country travel to California.

“Taken together, for these reasons, the team will not race for the remainder of the Michelin Pilot Challenge series.”

Johnson and longtime co-driver Stephen Simpson posted a third place class finish in the second race of the weekend at Mid-Ohio in their Audi and currently sit sixth in the TCR drivers’ championship.
