SRO America has moved its race date at Virginia International Raceway forward by one week in order to avoid an expected date clash with IMSA’s reshuffled WeatherTech SportsCar Championship calendar.

Confirmed on Wednesday, the VIR event for Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS, GT America powered by AWS, Pirelli GT4 America and TC America powered by Skip Barber series, has been rescheduled to June 4-6.

According to the series, the move was made to mitigate a “possible scheduling conflict” for SRO America competitors that attend “other series events.”

The statement is believed to be in reference to IMSA’s event at Detroit, which is currently scheduled for the same weekend but is now expected to move on to the IndyCar event one week later, on June 11-13.

The weekend had opened up on IMSA’s schedule after the ACO rescheduled the 24 Hours of Le Mans to August.

SRO America, meanwhile, has targeted an end-of-month timeframe for unveiling its “completed and adjusted” 2021 schedule.

It will include the replacement round for the recently canceled event at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Sportscar365 understands that Charlotte Motor Speedway, Mid-Ohio and Lime Rock Park are among the circuits being considered as the CTMP replacement race.
