Davis Beats Blind, Chouest to First Career Pole at COTA

Tony Davis beat Scott Blind and Ross Chouest to claim his first career GT America powered by AWS pole ahead of this afternoon’s opening race of the weekend at Circuit of The Americas.

Davis took his No. 04 HP-TECH Motorsport Ferrari 2096 GT3 Evo to a fast lap of 2:06.210 to edge out Blind, in the No. 45 Ruckus Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo by 0.436 seconds.

Chouest, aboard his No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R was third quickest.

All three drivers outpaced points leader Memo Gidley, who swept the weekend in last month’s season opener at Sonoma Raceway in his No. 56 SKI Autosport Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II.

Gidley qualified fourth, with Dan Knox, making his series return in his Lone Star Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, completing the top five.

The No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche of Kyle Washington was sixth, ahead of the RS1 Porsche of Joel Cortes and Jason McCarthy’s One11 Competition Ferrari.

David Lecko qualified his lone Cup class Ginetta GTP8 ahead of the GT4 class pole-sitting No. 83 RCX Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport of Joseph Petkes.

A total of 18 cars are set to start this afternoon’s 40-minute contest, which is set for 3:20 p.m. CST with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and on Twitch.
