Motorsports In Action has broken through for victory in Saturday’s Road America 120, with Corey Lewis and Sheena Monk taking top honors in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge round.

Lewis took the Canadian squad’s No. 3 McLaren 570S GT4 to its first win in more than two years, following a commanding run in the second half of the two-hour race.

While having started third on the grid, Monk, in only her third Pilot Challenge start, moved into second early on before pitting and handing over driving duties to Lewis.

A move around the pole-sitting No. 60 KohR Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage GT4 of Kyle Marcelli with 40 minutes to go saw Lewis take the lead and control the remainder of the contest.

The race ended under yellow following a heavy accident for the No. 4 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Billy Johnson, which was battling for a podium position prior to a drive-through penalty for contact with another car.

It marked MIA’s first win since the 2017 season finale at Road Atlanta and was also the first overall victory by a female driver since Ashley Freiberg, two years earlier.

Marcelli and Nate Stacy, who led throughout his opening stint, came home second, with the No. 39 CarBahn Motorsports Audi R8 LMS GT4 of defending GS champions Jeff Westphal and Tyler McQuarrie completing the podium in third.

The No. 35 Riley Motorsports Mercedes GT4 of Dylan Murry and James Cox were fourth, having benefitted by Johnson’s collision with the No. 7 Archangel Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport of Trent Hindman with 21 minutes to go.

Hindman ended up spinning although rebounded to finish sixth, behind the No. 95 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 of Bill Auberlen and Robby Folley.

Bryan Herta Autosport swept the TCR podium following a dominant run for its fleet of Hyundai Veloster N TCRs.

The No. 33 entry of Gabby Chaves and Ryan Norman picked up the class win, with the Colombian finishing ahead of the No. 29 Hyundai TCR of Parker Chase and Spencer Brockman.

Mark Wilkins and Harry Gottsacker, meanwhile, completed the class podium.
