Parker Thompson has scored pole for this afternoon’s IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, in a shortened session for GS class due to an accident.

Thompson reeled off a 1:22.334 in his debuting No. 50 Hattori Motorsports Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO to outpace the No. 19 Van der Steur Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT4 of Rory van der Steur by 0.558 seconds.

Kenny Murillo qualified third in the No. 72 Murillo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4, meanwhile.

The 15-minute scheduled GS session was red-flagged with eight minutes to go when Frank De Pew’s No. 71 Rebel Rock Racing Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R slammed into the No. 28 RS1 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport of Eric Filgueiras, which sent the Camaro up into the air.

Both cars lost their two quickest times in the session due to bringing out the red.

Track workers, however, were unable to clean up the accident in time for the rest of the session to play out.

Chris Miller scored top pole honors in TCR, breaking Mat Pombo’s qualifying streak in a tight session that ran fully green.

Miller’s 1:23.256 lap time in the No. 17 Unitronic/JDC-Miller Motorsports Audi RS 3 LMS TCR edged out Pombo’s No. 37 LA Honda World Racing Honda Civic Type-R TCR by 0.002 seconds.

The No. 33 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Elantra N TCR of Harry Gottsacker will line up third in class.

The Canadian Tire Motorsport Park 120 takes the green flag at 4 p.m. EDT with live coverage on Peacock.
