Audi has taken the wraps off an updated version of its R8 LMS GT4 car alongside the launch of the new Audi R8 V10 RWD production car.

The second-generation GT4 car is derived directly from Audi’s new rear-wheel drive road car, with about 60 percent components carried over in the “freshly refined” race car.

While retaining the same 5.2-liter V10 engine from the initial GT4 model, which was announced in 2017, the new-gen Audi features adjustable ABS and traction control settings for the first time.

Eight different settings can be selected by the driver on the new steering wheel, which comes from the recently launched Audi R8 LMS GT2 car.

Two rotary switches for ABS and TC are centrally located in the steering wheel, directly within the drivers’ view, allowing drivers to “immediately respond” to changing conditions on-track.

The car, which will be eligible for GT4 competition worldwide beginning next year, also features updated aerodynamics

“The Audi R8 LMS GT4 is a firm pillar of our program both in terms of racing and business aspects,” said Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing.

“By upgrading this product, we responded to customer wishes.

“Introducing just a few, albeit useful innovations, in this price-sensitive GT entry-level segment was a key factor. I’m sure that the updated race car will thrill the teams and continue the previous string of success.”

The price for the new Audi R8 LMS GT4 remains unchanged at 198,000 Euros ($219,o00) with deliveries set to begin next month.

Existing owners can purchase an upgrade kit, priced at 17,975 Euros ($20,000).
