Ben Barnicoat will make his return to the wheel of the No. 14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 in next weekend’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, it has been confirmed by the team in a social media post.
The Lexus factory driver had been out of action since the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in March due to injuries sustained in a mountain biking accident.
Barnicoat subsequently missed the WeatherTech Championship races at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca and streets of Detroit, as well as the FIA World Endurance Championship rounds at Imola and this weekend’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, where he competes for fellow Lexus squad Akkodis ASP Team.
Details on the extent of Barnicoat’s injuries have not yet been disclosed.
The full entry list for next weekend’s IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup round, which is expected to feature an over-capacity 56-car field, will be released later today.
