Sandy Mitchell will sub for fellow Lamborghini factory driver Marco Mapelli at Pfaff Motorsports in next weekend’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, due to Mapelli taking part in the Nürburgring 24.
Announced on Tuesday, Mitchell will team up with full season driver Andrea Caldarelli at the wheel of the No. 9 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 in the third round of the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.
“We’re wishing Marco all the best in Germany and look forward to having him back in the car for CTMP,” said general manager Steve Bortolotti.
“We’re also excited to welcome Sandy, whose pace and professionalism make him a strong fit for our program.”
Mitchell added: “It’s fantastic to be joining Pfaff Motorsports for the Six Hours of the Glen. I love racing in IMSA and I’m super excited to be partnering up with Andrea and Pfaff for this event.
“Watkins Glen is a track I really enjoyed when racing there in Super Trofeo North America. I’m looking forward to returning, this time for the main event, and pushing for a top result with the team.”
The Canadian squad is coming off a season-best third place class finish in the GTD Pro class at the recent Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic.
