Braun Leads Third Straight Kansas Practice

Colin Braun led Friday’s 45-minute night practice for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Prototype Challenge race at Kansas Speedway, to complete a three-for-three sweep of leading practice sessions.

In the night session, Braun improved his time from practice two by another half tenth, down to 1:11.667 in the No. 54 CORE autosport Oreca FLM09. Jon Bennett will start Saturday’s first 45-minute Grand Prix of Kansas.

Starworks Motorsport got into second place for the first time on the day, with Ryan Dalziel and Martin Fuentes sharing the team’s No. 7 entry. Dalziel became the second driver to break into the 1:11 range at 1:11.982.

The 8Star Motorsports No. 25 of Sean Rayhall and Luis Diaz clocked in third at 1:12.188. The pair of RSR Racing entries (No. 09 and No. 08) were fourth and fifth.

Craig Duerson led the IMSA Cooper Tire Prototype Lites entrants in this session, in the No. 27 Performance Tech Motorsports Élan DP-02, at 1:15.774. Teammates Robert Alon and Hayden Duerson were second and third.

Two brief red flags interrupted the session.

Prototype Lites qualifying runs from 11:10 to 11:30 p.m. ET, with PC qualifying running from 11:45 to 12 a.m. ET.
