James Calado will return to the wheel of Risi Competizione’s Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 for the first time since the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona, having been confirmed for next weekend’s Motul Petit Le Mans.

The Englishman is set to drive alongside fellow Ferrari factory drivers Daniel Serra and Davide Rigon in the ten-hour season finale at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

Both Serra and Rigon have been part of Risi’s GTD Pro class lineup for the three other Michelin Endurance Cup rounds this season, with Calado only having contested the opening round up until now.

He was replaced by Eddie Cheever III for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in order to focus entirely on his FIA World Endurance Championship commitments that weekend while the team opted for a two-driver lineup at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.

The Houston-based squad is a five-time Petit Le Mans class winner, including its most recent appearance in the race in 2019, when Calado and Serra were joined by Alessandro Pier Guidi.

“Our team has a long history at Road Atlanta for the Petit Le Mans race,” said team principal Giuseppe Risi.

“Because we won in the inaugural Petit race here in 1998, it always holds a special place for me.

“Since that first outing 25 years ago, we have been on the podium, including the top step, a number of times. That certainly never gets old. We always strive for a victory, so we will look to do just that again this year.”

Risi’s confirmation means there will be at least six GTD Pro entries for the Oct. 1 enduro, with the full entry list set to be released on Wednesday.
