Paul Miller Racing will shift from the Audi R8 LMS to the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 for the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season, Lamborghini announced on Tuesday.

Miller has campaigned an Audi the last two years, coming up short of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship GT Daytona driver’s championship on both occasions.

This gives Lamborghini an existing full-season team beyond Super Trofeo teams, O’Gara Motorsport and Change Racing, and veteran squad Konrad Motorsport, for the GT Daytona class next year.

“We are excited to add Paul Miller Racing to our Lamborghini lineup for 2016,” said Automobili Lamborghini Head of Motorsport Giorgio Sanna.

“The GT3 is the pinnacle of our racing strategy and we expect a team with their experience and success in North American sportscar racing, along with our other customer teams, to raise the level of competition and elevate Lamborghini Squadra Corse in North America.”

Paul Miller added, “All of us at Paul Miller Racing are excited to be partnering with Lamborghini in its inaugural season of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition in 2016.

“We believe our passion to win and our expertise in U.S. racing fits well with Lamborghini’s long-term goals. We have followed the progress of the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 very closely in Europe this year, and the development and engineering of this race car has been significant and impressive.

“We fully expect the Huracán to be a GTD contender from the onset of the season and, as a team, we are very confident in our ability and familiarity with a mid-engine platform after our last two successful seasons of competition.”

Drivers are expected to be named in the coming weeks. Christopher Haase and Dion von Moltke co-drove this year, with von Moltke scoring four pole positions and the pair finished third in GTD points.
