Two memorable races at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America field tightened up the championship battles in the Pro and LB Cup classes and has set the stage for what will be a pivotal third race weekend for Rounds 5 and 6 at Watkins Glen International.

With 41 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 cars entered, if all start this weekend it would eclipse the season-high of 39 cars set at the Sebring opener.

It’s been a roller coaster and dynamic start to the season in Pro, with the top three entries separated by just one point heading to Watkins Glen.

Will Bamber (No. 33 XONINE Racing) has three wins from four races with two different teams and is tied atop the top spot with the ever-consistent Nick Persing and Hampus Ericsson (No. 1 Wayne Taylor Racing). Elias De La Torre (No. 29 TR3 Racing), meanwhile, is just one point behind.

Bamber’s first race in the XONINE entry at Monterey featured a mixed bag with plenty of practice and qualifying pace only for a parts issue to take him out of Race 1.

But combined with a seventh-to-second drive forward by co-driver Darius Trinka in Race 2, Bamber was well-positioned to capitalize when his former car – the No. 29 TR3 car – retired from the lead with a mechanical issue.

It denied De La Torre his third win of the year, who was paired with Dennis Lind at Monterey. Daniel Morad is set to fill in for Lind at Watkins Glen owing to the clashing CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa this weekend.

Persing, meanwhile, drove a storming Saturday stint to overcome a 10-second time penalty assessed for incident responsibility with De La Torre to ensure he and Ericsson could still win in the No. 1 WTR car. The new pairing has four top-four finishes in as many races.

Jamaican newcomer Tommi Gore (No. 4 ANSA Motorsports) has impressed as well with three podiums in his first four starts.

His full-season co-driver Colin Queen will be back at Watkins Glen after Nico Jamin filled in for Queen in Monterey due to a schedule conflict. He sits fourth in points, 15 in arrears with veteran Brandon Gdovic (No. 46 Precision Performance Motorsports) fifth with four top-five finishes in as many races.

One new entry this race is Breathless Racing, a revived team for Sebring podium finisher Ernie Francis Jr. and the returning Luke Berkeley, who hasn’t made a Super Trofeo start this year. They’ll run the No. 73 Lamborghini.

The Pro-Am season thus far has been defined by flawless race execution from Graham Doyle and Danny Formal, who shifted from Pro to Pro-Am this season alongside Doyle in the No. 10 WTR entry. The duo is a perfect four-for-four in race wins, with Doyle entering Watkins Glen having swept in Am last season, and lead by 21 points.

Two other entries have been regular podium finishers this year.

Both Lindsay Brewer and Keawn Tandon (No. 77 Forty7 Motorsports) and Seth Henry and Wyatt Foster (No. 44 Kaizen Autosport) have three podiums in four races.

They’re tied for second in points and ready to pounce if the No. 10 car has a bad race or weekend. Mateo Siderman and Martin Fuentes (No. 63 TR3) scored their first podium of 2026 in Monterey.

The Am class is the first of two that have had four winners through four races so far this season, showcasing the breadth and depth in the field.

Nick Groat (No. 57 XONINE) and Dean Neuls (No. 70 TR3) split the Sebring wins, with Anthony Bullock (No. 12 XONINE) and David Staab (No. 48 PPM) splitting the Monterey wins.

Staab’s year-to-date consistency of four podiums from four races sees him 10 points clear of Groat and 12 points ahead of Johan Schwartz (No. 89 89X Motorsports) in the standings.

Schwartz, who has three podiums from four starts, is keen to add his and Mike Fitzpatrick’s name to the list of winners. Staab’s podium double saw the championship go from a three-way tie leaving Sebring to now the new expanded margin.

The class is guaranteed new Watkins Glen winners this year as Doyle and Glenn McGee swept in Am last year with Wayne Taylor Racing.

As in Am, LB Cup has a quartet of different winners through the opening four rounds, from four different teams. There are a season-high 11 cars entered in this class at Watkins Glen.

In Sebring, Ray Shahi (No. 65 Taurino Racing) and Rocky T. Bolduc (No. 99 Topp Racing) grabbed the wins. In Monterey, Philippe Touchette (No. 11 TB Autosports) and Christopher Koebbe (No. 66 Forty7 Motorsports) won their first races.

Touchette holds just a two-point lead over Bolduc heading to Watkins Glen, a venue where Bolduc won last year in LB Cup.

Super Trofeo practices on Thursday with qualifying Friday morning and the two 50-minute races Friday at 4 p.m. EST and Saturday at 5:15 p.m. EST. Races stream via Peacock as well as IMSA and Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s YouTube channels.
