Elias De La Torre returned to victory lane for the first time since Watkins Glen, with the TR3 Racing driver and co-pilot Dennis Lind taking overall honors in the opening Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America race of the weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Danny Formal and Graham Doyle, meanwhile, provisionally clinched the Pro-Am title with their eighth class win out of nine races.
De La Torre took his No. 29 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 to its fifth win of the season, finishing 5.450 seconds ahead of the No. 1 Wayne Taylor Racing entry of Nick Persing in the 50-minute contest that ended in the dusk.
Having started from pole, Lind controlled the opening stint and maintained the lead through an opening lap full-course caution and restart, ahead Pro-Am class leader Formal in the No. 10 WTR Lamborghini.
Darius Trinka in the No. 33 XONINE Racing entry emerged in second following the mid-race pit stops but slowed with an apparent issue in the final ten minutes, costing significant points for co-driver Will Bamber in his championship chase.
Trinka faded to a 10th place overall finish, sixth in the Pro class.
De La Torre now provisionally holds a 25-point lead with only three points-paying races remaining in the IMSA-sanctioned single-make series.
Giano Taurino, driving solo in the No. 88 Taurino Racing entry, completed the Pro class podium in third.
Formal and co-driver Doyle returned to victory lane, after one race away, and finished fourth overall in the process to cement their championship-winning season.
Am class honors in Race 1 went to the No. 12 XONINE Lamborghini of Anthony Bullock, while Rocky T. Bolduc took the lead of the LB Cup championship with his third class win of the season in his Topp Racing entry.
It came after class points leader Philippe Touchette was involved in a Lap 11 accident that resulted in retirement for the No. 11 TB Autosports entry.
The final Super Trofeo race of the season on U.S. soil gets underway Sunday at 12:20 p.m. EST with live coverage on Peacock, as well as the Lamborghini Squadra Corse and IMSA YouTube channels.
