The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America has several changes and entry additions going into its fourth race weekend of the 2015 season at Circuit of the Americas this weekend, as the series makes its track debut.
A field of 26 cars has been entered, which would set a new record for the championship in North America. The previous mark was 23 cars, set last race at Virginia International Raceway.
ENTRY LIST: Lamborghini ST at COTA
Prestige Performance adds a third Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 for Am class driver William De Leon. De Leon joins full-season drivers Kevin Conway and Enrique Bernoldi, and John Di Fiore, set to return after a pre-race accident at VIR knocked him out of that weekend.
AVID Motorsports returns after missing VIR, and will enter a Huracán and an Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4. Angel Benitez Jr. and Martin Fuentes will share the team’s Huracán while Matthieu Lecuyer will run in the Gallardo.
Lecuyer transitioned from a jet fighter pilot career into racing, and has primarily raced prototypes in Europe before switching to GT cars last year.
GMG also adds its second car for Rob Phillips, while team principal James Sofronas is listed alongside Jeffrey Cheng in the team’s No. 88 Huracán. Sofronas missed VIR while Matt Halliday filled in.
Musante Courtney Racing also has a Gallardo entered for Peter Argetsinger, who last raced at Watkins Glen.
The two Lamborghini ST races from COTA are Thursday evening before FIA World Endurance Championship night practice, and Friday morning.
Both races will be streamed live at squadracorse.lamborghini.com/en/live-usa. Highlights from both rounds will be televised from 9-10 p.m. (ET) Wednesday, Oct. 7 on CBS Sports Network.
