Janne Stiak stormed to his first career Porsche Carrera Cup North America pole for Saturday’s opening race of the weekend at the Miami International Autodrome.
The 19-year-old German, in only his third weekend in U.S. competition, reeled off a chart-topping 1:55.721 in his No. 40 ACI Motorsports Porsche 911 Cup car.
Stiak’s pole-winning time, which came late in the session, was 0.244 seconds quicker than Kellymoss driver Aaron Jeansonne, who qualified second.
Callum Hedge, who topped the charts for the majority of the 30-minute session, ended up third quickest in his No. 9 JDX Racing Porsche.
Points leader Tyler Maxson was fourth in the No. 77 Topp Racing Porsche ahead of teammate Cole Kleck, who completed the top-five in the No. 77 entry.
Patrick Mulcahy picked up Pro-Am pole honors for ACI, with Ruckus Racing’s Scott Blind taking top qualifying honors in the Masters class.
Race 1 of the weekend is scheduled for Saturday at 2:50 p.m. EST with live coverage Peacock, as well as on IMSA and Porsche Motorsport North America’s YouTube channels.
