Christian Engelhart will reunite with Lamborghini to form part of the Italian manufacturer’s factory driver roster for the first time since 2018.

The German racer previously served as a works driver with Lamborghini in 2017 and 2018 and won the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup title alongside Mirko Bortolotti and Andrea Caldarelli in his first season with the brand.

Despite leaving the factory roster after 2018, Engelhart would remain aligned with the brand for several years, most notably as part of the lineup that took a GTD class victory the 2019 Rolex 24 at Daytona.

In recent years, Engelhart moved to compete in Porsche machinery, including a brief stint in DTM that saw him take victory in the Oschersleben season opener this year before parting ways with Toksport WRT halfway through the season.

The 36-year-old rounded out to the DTM season by returning to Lamborghini machinery, joining Grasser for the season finale at Hockenheim.

“To join Lamborghini feels like coming home and is a very emotional moment in my career,” said Engelhart.

“I have never stopped loving this iconic brand and consider myself honoured to represent and privileged to drive for Lamborghini Squadra Corse.

“Together, we already share a history of success, and I will give my utmost to build on this in the highest-level GT championships.

“There are many exciting prospects for the future, and I am more than ready to take on the next step of our journey together.”

Engelhart joins the recently confirmed Loris Spinelli as part of Lamborghini’s GT3-focused stable of factory talent, a list that also includes Sandy Mitchell, Marco Mapelli, Franck Perera, Leonardo Pulcini and Jordan Pepper.

“We are happy to welcome back Christian in our family, we are sure that he will bring additional experience and performance to our GT3 customer teams, collaborating with Squadra Corse on the next future race cars development,” added Giorgio Sanna, Lamborghini’s head of motorsport.
