LMP2 ace Mathias Beche has joined Nielsen Racing for the British team’s pursuit of an Asian Le Mans Series title defense with an Oreca 07 Gibson.

The experienced Swiss driver will team up with reigning champions Ben Hanley and Rodrigo Sales for the four-round championship, which takes place at Dubai Autodrome and Yas Marina Circuit in February.

Beche drove for TDS Racing in the European Le Mans Series last year and claimed two outright pole positions in the French outfit’s Pro-Am Oreca.

The 36-year-old former LMP1 driver also made three FIA World Endurance Championship appearances with ARC Bratislava and gave the Slovakian squad a front-row LMP2 start at the 6 Hours of Monza.

Nielsen Racing won the 2022 Asian LMS title with Hanley, Sales and Matt Bell, who has moved into the team’s LMP3 lineup for the upcoming campaign.

Hanley, Sales and Bell went on to drive for Nielsen in ELMS where they finished one place ahead of Beche’s TDS crew in the Pro-Am standings.

A total of nine Orecas are on the LMP2 entry list for the Asian LMS including entries from the likes of United Autosports, Algarve Pro Racing and Inter Europol Competition.

The title-winning team will receive an automatic entry to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
