The European Le Mans Series will host a 36-strong entry of LMP2, LMP3 and GTE machinery this season, as announced at the ACO press conference on Thursday.
Thirteen brand-new LMP2 cars will be fighting for the overall championship, with the class undergoing a complete overhaul in 2017 with the ELMS featuring new models from Oreca, Ligier and Dallara, all with a spec Gibson engine.
The LMP2 field includes reigning champions G-Drive Racing as well as 2016 LMP3 champions United Autosports and runners-up Graff.
G-Drive, however, will not be run by Jota Sport, as was the case last year, with the team’s identity set to be announced on Friday.
DragonSpeed will run the fourth Oreca alongside G-Drive and Graff’s two cars, while there will be four Dallaras campaigned by Cetilar Villorba Corse, new Danish team High Class Racing, Racing Team Nederland and SMP Racing.
The remainder of the class is made up of the new Ligier JS P217, which will be campaigned by Panis Barthez Competition, Algarve Pro Racing, IDEC Sport Racing, United Autosports and Tockwith Motorsports.
LMP3 continues to be the largest class in the field with a total of 16 cars. While the Ligier JS P3 Nissan remains the most popular car in the class, there will be a pair of Norma M30 Nissans on the grid as well.
Finally, the GTE class falls to seven entries, made up of three Ferraris, two Porsches and two Aston Martins.
