Sargeant, Muniz Confirmed in Ford Veterans Day Classic

Ford’s future FIA World World Endurance Championship Hypercar driver Logan Sargeant and recent Pirelli GT4 America race winner Frankie Muniz are among the first six confirmed drivers for Ford’s Veterans Day Classic, which will be staged at Daytona International Speedway.

The first wave of drivers for the all-star event was revealed on Monday, featuring six two-car teams of Ford Mustang Dark Horse Rs, each representing a branch of the U.S. military (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard and Space Force).

Sargeant and Muniz will be joined by NASCAR stars Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski and Noah Gragson as well as Formula DRIFT ace Ben Hobson, with six other Ford Racing drivers from various racing disciplines to be announced at a later date.

They will all race in identically-prepared Dark Horse Rs, typically used in Ford Racing’s single-make road racing series, for the special event on Nov. 11, as part of the HSR Classic 24 Hour at Daytona event.

In addition to HSR, NASCAR and IMSA, as well as Blue Star Families, have joined forces to put on the first-of-a-kind military tribute race, which will also feature a headlining performance from the Zac Brown Band and be nationally televised.

It’s understood the Dark Horse R will test at the 3.56-mile oval/road course for the first time next month in preparation for the Veterans Day Classic as well as next year’s Mustang Challenge North America season-opener, which will be held at Daytona during the Roar Before the Rolex 24 weekend.
